WHERE WE ARE

The small village of Tidzi is located 27 kms due south of Essaouira. At the traffic circle as you leave Essaouira, bear to the right, direction Agadir, and drive on until you reach and pass a large housing settlement at the end of which you bear to the right again, direction Agadir. From there, just drive another 20 kms until you reach the village of Tidzi. At this point, take a left turn onto the narrow paved road with signs reading "Barrage Zirar" / "Neknafa" and drive another 3 kms. As you descend a gentle slope at the foot of which is a small modest school, take the dirt country road to your right some 20 meters past the school. Drive slowly up this country lane, no more than 30 meters and be prepared to take the first turn right. Motor on to the very end of the driveway and there is Villa Tidzi!
OUT and ABOUT
There are numerous excursions by foot one can take from the villa depending on the individual's stamina and level of expertise. . . from pathways fairly close to home, requiring little effort, to hikes up mountainous terrain which can take the better part of a day and demand a substantial amount of energy in addition to a pair of sturdy walking shoes.
Excursions by car can include such sites as the fabled seaside town of Essaouira, 30 minutes to the north, the almond blossom valley of Imint'lit, abloom in early winter, the lovely and isolated beach at Iftane, the blinding salt fields of IdaOuassin just south of Smimou or any number of local "souks" scattered throughout the countryside and which come to life for one day of each week.

ABOUT the WEATHER

In times of old, one could pretty much count on certain months and seasons of the year being cold or hot, windy or warm or just delightfully balmy and calm. In the last decade, however, as has been the case in many other parts of the world, such assumptions are no longer valid. The earliest rains which once fell reliably in November can now appear as early as September and not return until Spring. As for the prevailing wind, the Chergui, it has become a most fickle element, capable of blowing relentlessly for considerable periods of time or else remaining blissfully elusive for months on end. There is simply no way of knowing what to expect anymore but overall we are still blessed with an amazing abundance of sunshine, blue skies and a temperate climate throughout the year.

ABOUT US
Your hosts at Villa Tidzi are Louis and Stanley, hailing from Eastern Quebec and Southern California respectively. We have both been involved with Morocco for more than 30 years, the last 14 of which have been on a permanent basis. As a result, we feel that we know this region quite well and we have always derived great pleasure from showing parts of it to friends and guests alike.
